Lily's Life Part 2
,June 16th, 2011“Lily, where are you off to now?” ask Kathleen, Lily’s mother. “Meeting up with some friends Mom. We’re going to the Mall and then we’re all going to head over to Velma’s house for a girl’s night to celebrate us graduating High School Mom,” said Lily, walking into the Living room with her backpack filled with clothes, make-up and her Personal Computer. “Okay sweetie, have fun. And remember, be Responsible,’ said Kathleen. ‘Are you going to stay over there for the night?”“Yes,’ said Lily. ‘It’ll be more of a sleepover kind of deal than anything else. Pizza, music, movies, and a girl’s night in our pj’s. Pretty simple.”“See ya tomorrow Lily,” said her mother as she gave her a hug.“See you tomorrow mom,” said Lily, returning the hug.Disengaging from the hug, Kathleen went back to her ironing. Lily walked out the front door and to her car. Starting the car Lily drove off to the mall. Twenty minutes later Lily found a parking space in front of the main entrance to the mall. Getting out the car she walked into the main entrance. In a rush, Lily bumped into someone a few feet into the mall. “Oh, sorry,” said Lily as she went on walking.“Wait! Lily, hold up!” called a male voice. “What is it!?” said Lily as she stomped her foot down, stopping and turning to see who it was.“It’s just me,’ said Mattie. ‘I was just coming to the mall to get some stuff for my parents. Do you mind if I hang out with you for a while?”Blushing, Lily said, “Um, sure. I can use some company before my friends get here. I came early to get away from my parents anyway.”“Great,’ said Mattie with a smile. ‘Would you care to walk me over to ‘Movies, Games, and Dice’? My mom wanted some movies and my dad needed a Deck of Cards and poker chips for his home poker games.”“Your Family is weird Mattie. I don’t know any family who watches as much movies as yours,” said Lily as she crinkled her nose in mock disgust. “Come on Lily. You like that ‘weirdness’ in me. Why else would you agree to hang out with me for a while,” said Mattie flirtatiously. Lily giggled. Mattie took a chance and took Lily’s hand. Lily squeezed his hand, letting him know she wanted to hold his hand. They walked over to the entertainment store, hand-in-hand, talking about their plans for college and life after high school.Lily’s phone rang as they entered the store. She took her phone out of her back pocket and looked at the screen. She smiled awkwardly at Mattie, “It’s Velma, I’ve got to take this. They must have just gotten here.”“Thanks for walking with me Lily. I’ll catch you later,” said Mattie with a smile directed at Lily. “Bye Mattie. I’ll catch up with you tomorrow, okay?’ said Lily smiling back at him as she lifted her phone up to her ear. ‘Hey Velma! What’s up? Are you here at the mall? Where?”Talking to Velma on the phone Lily walked out of the entertainment store and towards the Front Entrance of the Mall. Passing by various stores without much notice by Lily. “Okay, I’ll meet you in front of ‘Victoria’s Secret’. Yeah, I need to get some underwear too. It’s fine, don’t worry Velma….’ Something caught the eye of Lily, looking to her right she saw into the shopping window of a shop called ‘Mystical Realities’. A Figurine stood out to her. ‘…Um, Velma. I’ll meet up with you in a few. There’s something I have do. Bye.” Walking into the store, Lily went over to the figurine and picked it up. Studying it intently, the figurine was that of a snake. It sat in a relax posture, leaning forward as if was curious about what it was looking at. Lily couldn’t identify the type of snake it was, it looked like a python but she couldn’t be sure. It’s scales where not one uniform color, or even shades of the same color. The base color was green, yes. But there also seemed to be a coat over it. That coat seemed almost like a shiny, oily-like, rainbow coloring. It made the figurine seem more, alluring somehow. “May I help you, Miss?” said a soft feminine voice.Lily gasped, surprised by the voice. She turned around to find the shopkeeper standing within five feet of her. “I’m, I’m sorry. I was just looking,’ said Lily as if she had just been caught stealing. ‘I was just so fascinated with this Snake Figurine here. It captivated me in the window.”“Yes, I imagine it does,’ said the woman. ‘It’s a magical item. Most people don’t know that, or believe in magic anymore. This particular, figurine, is a representation of the Snake Goddess Zeldinia. Worshipped by a small island culture between three to five thousand years ago. From what I could find they were a Female lead culture in the Mediterranean. Several miles off the coast of present-day Egypt. Legend has it that most women in the culture were transformed into what is known as a Lamia. Sadly, reports have shown that a natural disaster happened, sending the island nation into the depths of the sea.”Intrigued by the woman’s story, Lily asked, “What’s a Lamia? Why change into that Form? What Natural Disaster caused a whole island to sink into the sea?”“Curious one, aren’t you?’ said the woman. ‘I can see why this figurine picked you. Well, to answer your questions to the best of my ability. The most basic answer to what a Lamia is, think of a person who has a snake tail instead of legs. From a person’s hips down would be a snake tail and the person’s upper half would be that of a normal human being. As to why change into that form I can only speculate. I would imagine having the strength and agility of a snake’s tail would be very beneficial for things like protection of their society as well as other things like cultural expectations of what it would be to a woman in that society. As to the natural disaster, from what I have read up about the region there were a lot of things like earthquakes and volcanic activity during that time period. So, a number of things could have gone wrong that they couldn’t control.”“That’s a cool story. Okay, you’ve sold me on this piece. How much is this?” asked Lily.Chuckling as if she was laughing at an internal joke the woman said, “For you. It’s a gift. You’ll love it. I guarantee it.”“Really!? No strings attached?” asked Lily.“None that you don’t already want in your heart,” smiled the woman.“Thank you,” said Lily, a small part of her questioned what the woman had just said but she didn’t really take heed as she turned and walked out of the store with the figurine. A few minutes later, after Lily had put the figurine in her bag, she had caught up with Velma at Victoria’s Secret. They shopped for a while at that store before they moved on to various other stores, being teenage girls as best as they could. Eventually the two girls made it back to Velma’s house. “Hey mom! Dad! Lily and I are back from the mall,” called out Velma, who was half Japanese and half Italian, mother being Japanese and father being Italian. “Do you want me to call for the Pizza sweetie?” called out her father from the kitchen.“Sure, it’ll arrive about the same time Rebecca and Taylor get here,’ called out Velma. ‘Lily and I will be up in my room if you need us. Come on Lily. My parents will just embarrass us if we go into the kitchen.”Lily giggled, “Your parents aren’t that bad.”“You don’t live here,’ said Velma. ‘Come on.”The two girls went up to Velma’s room and shut the door behind them. “You should call up Becky and Taylor,’ said Lily. ‘They’re waiting for our call.”“Sure,’ said Velma as she took her phone out of her pocket and started to dial. ‘You get out our things we bought at the mall. I want to go through them with you.”A moment later, Velma and Lily were discussing the clothes they bought over Velma’s bed. Their clothes were scattered across the bed.“I really like this bra you got Lily,’ said Velma, picking it up and pretended showing it off on her body. ‘The red color of it would go really well with your hair. And I imagine it’ll make the guys go wild!”Lily smiled, “That’s why I got it. I was thinking it would go well with a few of my tight shirts. Sort of a tease thing. Have the guys see a red bra under my white shirt walking around the mall or something like that. Don’t tell my mom though, she’ll freak and make me get rid of it okay?” “Wait! I’ll have to talk to my mom first. I have to see if it alright with her,” said Velma sarcastically, trying to keep a straight face without much success. With a playful slap to her friend’s arm, Lily said, “Thanks.”The two girls giggled for another few moments before refocusing on the task at hand. After another moment of talking about there belongings Velma asked, “Hey, Lily. What’s that hanging out of your bag? It looks all shiny.”Looking at her bag, laying on the floor of Velma’s room. “Oh that! I actually forgot I got that at the mall. Just as I was talking and walking to you in mall, I passed this Mystical shop and it caught my eye. The shopkeeper had a wild story about it. But the story went well with the figurine. So, she let me have it for free.”“What was the story,” asked Velma, intrigued. Standing up from the bed, Lily went and picked up the figurine and walked back to the bed. She said, “Well, the shopkeeper said it contained magical powers. That it was a representation of some random long-lost civilization where all the women were these things called Lamia and were the leaders and protectors of their civilization. But something bad happened and their island that they lived on fell back into the sea and has been lost since.”“Cool, in my mom’s culture’s folklore there are similar creatures that are called ‘Naga’,’ said Velma looking up to Lily’s facial features. ‘Hey, Lily. What happened to your eyes? They’re Yellow!”“What do you mean Velma? My eyes are blue,” said Lily.“NO! They’re yellow now. Look in the mirror,” said Velma, pointing towards the closet door, which doubled as a mirror. Lily stood up and walked to the mirror. She looked at her eyes closely. Lily gasped, “They’re really yellow! How did this happen?!”“I don’t know,” responded Velma.Lily blink. Stunned at her eye color change. Lily Blinked again, once she opened her eyes lily noticed that her pupils look more like slits than circles. Lily cried out. “My eyes! They just turned into slits.” Velma just sat there staring at Lily as if she just was too stunned to speak. Lily touched her cheeks lightly and slowly brought her finger tops down to her chin, the touch made the changing of her eyes seems more real. Letting her fingertips fall from her sides, Lily immediately recognized that her hands didn’t brush up against her hips like they usually do. Looking at her reflect of her hips, Lily realized her hips seemed to stretching up and down. Making her hips seem slimmer but longer. Her clothes didn’t seem to fit right in that area. Lily suddenly felt a numb stretching feeling in her legs, it almost felt like her legs went to ‘sleep’. With a Jolt, Lily felt herself rise up as if she was growing taller. Looking in the mirror she saw that the only things grown was her legs. Another Jolt, this time centered in her legs, made her legs feel completely like jelly; causing her to fall onto her side. “What’s Happening to me!?! AM I dying?! I don’t want to Die,” screamed Lily, not being able to move. All Lily could do was feel what was happening to her. Lying there, she felt her legs lengthen. She felt her insides of her legs and hips dissolve like silly putty. Her legs continued to grow; a zipping feeling was felt by Lily as she felt her legs merge together. They continued to grow longer, Lily still couldn’t movie. She just laid there and felt what was happening to her lower half of her body. Thirty seconds went by and Lily could only feel her legs completely merge together and lengthen. Another fifteen seconds went by before she could feel the transformation come to screeching halt. Lily felt herself being, released. She could move again.Looking around, Lily first looked at Velma, who seemed to have fainted on her bed. Secondly, she looked down at her legs, only to find a snake tail. From where her hips used to be down there was a snake tail that looked to be around fourteen to fifteen feet long, curling itself around Velma’s room. The tail was a green base with shiny scales and a tint covering of rainbow color. All Lily could say was, “How am I going to explain this to my parents!?” Present Time“…And you can see why I didn’t call you Mattie,’ said Lily seriously. ‘I just wasn’t mature enough to let you in. I was too frightened by what others would think of my new form. It was a terrifying transformation for me. Something I never would have expected to happen to me.”A group of people now stood around Lily and Mattie. Intrigued by her story, including the middle-aged bartender. Mattie could just look at her, astonished. He felt that if he would have just known that several hours before her transformation, he could have convinced her to stay with him and could have lived a normal Human life he would have taken the chance to convince her to stay with him. “Uh, uh, uh, um, that was an amazing story Lily! I mean the transformation must have been terrifying for you. What changed your mind from trying to become fully human again?” said Mattie, mouth agape. With a mischievous smile, Lily said, “Now Mattie, that is a story for another Chapter. And another time. It’s late, don’t you have to get back to your wife?”Looking at his watch, Mattie saw it said just past 8 PM. ‘Oh my! I missed dinner. Jennifer will be upset with me now. I need to get back home to do some graveling. I hope you don’t mind if we cut this a little short Lily. How about we meet up tomorrow? Around 1 PM? We can meet up at that independent coffee shop that has that Anne Rice Theme to it. What do you think?”“Sure, I’ll see you then Mattie. Tomorrow I have off from work anyway,” said Lily. With that she turned away from Mattie and slithered out of the Hotel. Knowing full well she had captured Mattie’s attention to the beginnings of her adult life....
